Photo‐Switching Thermal and Lithium‐Ion Conductivity in Azobenzene Polymers
Light‐responsive azobenzene polymers control thermal and ionic transport simultaneously through structural transitions. UV illumination disrupts π–π stacking, converting crystalline trans states to amorphous cis configurations. Thermal conductivity drops from 0.45 to 0.15 W·m−1·K−1 while Li+ diffusivity increases 100 fold. This dual transport switching

Syria and the red lines of international law. CEPS Commentary, 4 September 2013 [PDF]
As the US and its allies France and Turkey dither over whether or not to punish Assad for having used sarin gas to kill his own people, the crucial question is: What response might the outside world legally take without the authority of the UN Security ...

The Anisotropic Adsorption of De Novo Allosteric Two‐Component Protein Fibers on Mica Surfaces
In this study, the interfacial behavior of de novo designed proteins that self‐assemble into tubular architectures with distinct morphologies — small (S), large (L), and helical (H) fibers — at the muscovite mica‐water interface is explored using in situ AFM. Abstract Protein adsorption at solid–liquid interfaces underlies many biomedical and materials

Shape‐Morphing Nanoengineered Hydrogel Ribbons as Hemostats
This study introduces a self‐assembling, shape‐morphing nanoengineered hydrogel ribbon system that rapidly forms porous aggregates in situ for efficient hemostasis in trauma and surgical applications. Abstract Rapid and effective hemorrhage control remains a major challenge in trauma and surgical care, particularly for complex or noncompressible wounds.

The North Atlantic alliance and collective defense at 70: confession and response revisited [PDF]
The North Atlantic Treaty was largely a response to global sentiment that other international organizations, namely the United Nations, were not accomplishing their intended purpose of the maintenance and promotion of peace and order in the world.

The ultrahard teeth of mollusks that feed on rocky substrates contain a wear‐resistant coating on their surfaces consisting of densely packed mesocrystalline magnetic nanoparticles within an organic matrix. These coatings display significant hardness and toughness through their highly controlled mesocrystalline architectures.

Commentary: Women’s violence to children [PDF]
Feminists often feel uncomfortable about talking about, or even acknowledging, women's violence, whether it be women's violence to men, women's violence to other women, or women's violence to children.

Bio‐Inspired Nanoarchitected LiFePO4 Cathodes
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) is synthesized using a bio‐inspired method, using acidic macromolecules similar to those found in many calcareous mineralized organisms to modulate the morphology and crystal growth of LFP‐carbon composite particles. The observations from this process indicate a non‐classical crystallization process, which subsequently ...
