Self-referent upward counterfactuals and depression: Examining regret as a mediator

open access: yesCogent Psychology, 2018
Previous research has found that self-referent upward counterfactuals are associated with depression. However, empirical evidence regarding the way self-referent upward counterfactuals exert their influence on depression remains scarce.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Making Decisions for Other People: The Problem of Judging Acceptable Levels of Risk

open access: yesForum: Qualitative Social Research, 2006
People often make judgments about the risk preferences of others. Doctors do so for patients, lawyers for clients, finance managers for investors, parents for children, carers for dependants. How are these judgments made?

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Tactical Self-Enhancement in China [PDF]

open access: yesSocial Psychological and Personality Science, 2010
Is self-enhancement culturally universal or relativistic? This article highlights a nuanced dynamic in East Asian culture. Modesty is a prevailing norm in China. The authors hypothesized that because of socialization practices and prohibitive cultural pressures, modesty would be associated with and lead to low explicit self-enhancement but high ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Self-consistent model for enhancement of the Raman scattering of polarized light in azo-polymer film with a plasmonic nanoantenna

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки, 2018
This paper is devoted to modeling of the Raman scattering in the "antenna – sample" system. The system consists of an anisotropic azo-dye molecule attached covalently to a polymer chain and a plasmonic antenna located near the molecule.
