Causes of death in the decade after hospitalisation for injury during adolescence: a study using linked hospital admissions and death registrations data

open access: yesInternational Journal of Population Data Science, 2017
Objectives To quantify risks of cause-specific death up to ten years after discharge from an emergency admission to hospital for violent, self-inflicted, or drug/alcohol-related injury, during adolescence.

β‐Elemene Rescues Radiation‐Induced Enteritis by Orchestrating a Host‐Microbiome Circuit That Fuels Epigenetic DNA Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates that β‐elemene promotes cellular uptake of L. gasseri‐derived lactate by enhancing the membrane translocation of MCT1 in a CD147‐dependent manner. Intracellular lactate, through the lactylation of RBBP4 at the K26 site, recruits EP300 to the promoter regions of downstream genes (POLD1/POLD3), catalyzing H3K27ac modification.

Dual‐Physical‐Field Nanocatalysis: Injectable Hydrogel Enables Piezo‐Photothermal Synergy for Breast Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Piezocatalytic therapy (PCT) harnesses mechanical energy to generate tumor‐lethal reactive oxygen species (ROS), but its efficacy is limited by rapid electron‐hole recombination and poor intratumoral retention. To overcome these limitations, we engineered heterostructured BiOCl@CuO nanosheets embedded in an injectable, conductive ...

An unusual case of self-inflicted stab injury to brain under alcohol intoxication without any behavioral or cognitive sequelae

open access: yesJournal of Mental Health and Human Behaviour, 2017
Intracranial injuries related to trauma, homicidal attacks, gunshot, or accidental injuries are commonly seen in emergency department. However, self-inflicted intracranial injuries are rarely described. In this report, we present a case of self-inflicted

Sustainable Materials Design With Multi‐Modal Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Critical mineral scarcity, high embodied carbon, and persistent pollution from materials processing intensify the need for sustainable materials design. This review frames the problem as multi‐objective optimization under heterogeneous, high‐dimensional evidence and highlights multi‐modal AI as an enabling pathway.

Self‐Accelerating Bimetallic Peroxide Nanozymes for Cascade‐Amplified Pyroptosis‐Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Acidic tumor microenvironment‐responsive CuZnONPs enable triple‐combination therapy via self‐supplying H2O2, cascade nanozyme activities for ROS burst, and Zn2+‐activated pyroptosis, synergizing catalytic therapy with immunotherapy to convert cold tumors into hot ones.

Sodium Ascorbate‐Accelerated Gelling Hydrogels With Rapid Self‐Mineralized Capacity for Chronic Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An immunoregulatory hydrogel based on sodium ascorbate (SA)‐accelerated gelation and in situ self‐mineralization is prepared here. Such a hydrogel is constructed by mixing benzaldehyde‐ and cyanoacetate‐functionalized dextran with silver nitrate (AgNO3) and SA, enabling the ultrafast solidification and in situ self‐mineralization of silver ...
