Self‐limited neonatal periumbilical erythema

Pediatric Dermatology, 2017
AbstractWe report three cases of neonatal, noninfectious, periumbilical erythema that resolved shortly after umbilical stump detachment. We hypothesize that these infants experienced an inflammatory and vasodilatory response during the normal umbilical cord separation process. We propose a new term: self‐limited neonatal periumbilical erythema.

Toxic pustuloderma: a self-limiting eruption

British Journal of Dermatology, 1990

The eruption was precipitated by food poisoning in one patient, a suspected, but blood-culture-negative septicaemia in another and in the third patient, by a cephalosporin. This self-limiting syndrome consists of fever, a pustular and

Ftorafur: A self-limiting source of 5-fluorouracil?

Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology, 1979
Studies of the cell killing effectiveness of ftorafur were carried out against 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). It appeared that in divided doses ftorafur is both relatively less toxic in terms of LD50 and bone marrow stem cell killing and less effective against L1210 and a mouse osteosarcoma than 5-FU.

Darwinian selection for self-limiting populations

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1975
The rarity of Malthusian overexploitation has long puzzled naturalists. Nicholson has given an important proximate explanation of how population size is limited, but his discussion of density governing traits does not tackle the ultimate question of how populations acquired these traits which prevent overexploitation.
