True Low‐Power Self‐Locking Soft Actuators

Advanced Materials, 2018
AbstractNatural double‐layered structures observed in living organisms are known to exhibit asymmetric volume changes with environmental triggers. Typical examples are natural roots of plants, which show unique self‐organized bending behavior in response to environmental stimuli.

A microcontroller based self-locking laser system

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2022
We present a self-locking laser system that does not require operator interventions. The system automatically finds a desired atomic transition and subsequently locks to it. Moreover, it has the ability to automatically detect if the laser is out of lock and activate the re-locking process.

Self-adjusting, self-locking hip bolt

The American Journal of Surgery, 1950
Abstract A classification and analysis of internal fixation devices for the treatment of fractures of the neck of the femur are made. A description is given and a preliminary report made of a self-adjusting, self-locking hip bolt. The hip bolt is of small diameter and is adjustable in length to simplify insertion. Once inserted rotation of fragments

Self-locking of laser modes

Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1977
An analytic investigation is made of the conditions for self-locking of laser modes. It is based on a system of reduced equations in terms of partial derivatives of the field amplitudes and polarizations and in terms of the difference between the populations of the active levels.

A Safe Self-Locking Stapedectomy Prosthesis

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1965
Cases have been reported in which a stapedectomy prosthesis has loosened and slipped into the vestibule, causing damage there with resulting vertigo and deafness. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that the stapedectomy prosthesis used is safely and firmly locked to the long process of the incus. The "wing-grip" prosthesis previously described by me

Self locking of gas lasers

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1967
The self locking behavior of 6328 A He-Ne gas lasers has been investigated at various mirror separations by controlling the oscillation intensity with the aid of an intracavity modulator. The results indicate that the self-locked gas laser with m light pulses bouncing back and forth between both the mirrors oscillates ordinarily at mf p mode interval ...

The Self-Locking Metal Hip Prosthesis

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1957
Great judgment should be exercised in the selection of patients for replacement of the femoral head and a careful postoperative program should be planned. The importance of partial weight-bearing for a period of at least six months should be emphasized, with a gradual increase as roentgenograms show the reaction of bone about the prosthesis.

Self-locked He-Ne ring laser

Optical and Quantum Electronics, 1980
Experimental conditions necessary for self-pulsing to occur in a He-Ne ring laser are reported. These results are compared with predictions that are based upon theoretical models that have been presented in the literature. Good qualitative agreement is found in that theory and experiment both show that self-pulsing will only occur over a range of ...

Self-Locking Central Wheel Nuts

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, 1995
By reviewing a very old patent on self-locking central wheel nuts, this paper explains why present-day racing car wheels sometimes come loose and why their behaviour appears to be erratic. Experimental work confirms the conclusions drawn. The solution to the problem lies in reverting to the concept described in the original patent.

Selection of Plate Self-Locking Nut

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
Through the correct assembly of various types of Plate Self-Locking Nuts, and their related mechanical properties test, on the premise of that Floating Two Lug Plate Self-Locking Nu, Floating Plate Self-Locking Nut, Cherry Rivetless Self-Locking Nut Plate, and Retainer Rivetless Plate Self-Locking Nut can satisfy the procurement specifications, use the
