Classification of laser modality for a self-mixing interferometric sensor

Applied Optics, 2020
Robust detection and classification of multimodal self-mixing (SM) signals emanating from the optical feedback-based SM interferometric laser sensor are necessary for accurate retrieval of sensing information. An abrupt shift in the modality of SM signals can occur due to different operating conditions; consequently, an unidentified modality shift can ...

Edge filter enhanced self-mixing interferometry: an approach to access the FM self-mixing signal

Latin America Optics and Photonics Conference, 2016
We describe a new self-mixing interferometer enable to measure frequency modulation (FM) signal. The FM detection, based on FM to intensity modulation mapping, yields about two orders of magnitude larger SNR than conventional self-mixing interferometry.

An Overview of Self-Mixing Sensing Applications

Conference on Optoelectronic and Microelectronic Materials and Devices, 2004., 2006
The self-mixing effect in laser diodes is reviewed as a general tool for remote sensing. After introducing the operating principle of the optical feedback interferometry, we are describing the main applications to displacement, vibration, velocity and distance measurements.

Synchronization of Mutually Coupled Self-Mixing Modulated Lasers

Physical Review Letters, 2000
Synchronization of mutually coupled chaotic lasers has been demonstrated in a microchip LiNdP4O12 laser array with self-mixing feedback modulation. An abrupt transition to synchronized chaos by way of "phase squeezing" was observed when coupling between the two lasers was increased.

Velocity measurement based on multiple self-mixing interference

Applied Optics, 2017
This study proposes a novel algorithm based on the multiple self-mixing interference (MSMI) theory to measure the velocity of a remote target without contact. The principle of MSMI is presented and the corresponding formulas for velocity measurement are derived. Fast Fourier transform is applied to detect signal frequency and calculate velocity values.

Behavioral model of a self-mixing laser diode sensor

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 2005
The spectral properties of a laser diode are modified when the optical beam is back-scattered into the active cavity of the laser. Based on the use of this optical feedback, the self-mixing effect has been demonstrated to be suitable for sensing applications.

Analysis of self mixing of transmitter interference in WCDMA receivers

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2006
In this paper we analyze the distortion due to self-mixing of TX (transmitter) interference in WCDMA mobile receivers. The self-mixing is primarily due to the second order nonlinearity of the mixer, which is very significant in WCDMA receivers due to the high power of TX interference. Existing published work has analyzed the dependence of distortion on
