Wanting other attitudes: actual–desired attitude discrepancies predict feelings of ambivalence and ambivalence consequences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The experience of attitudinal ambivalence (subjective ambivalence) is important because it predicts key consequences of attitudes (e.g., attitude–behavior correspondence, attitude stability).

Conductive Hydrogels for Exogenous Sensing and Cell Fate Control

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We engineer electrically conductive hydrogels by combining sulfated glycosaminoglycans with semiconducting polymers. These hydrogels bind bioactive proteins, including growth factors, whose release or retention can be modulated by low‐voltage stimulation. The hydrogels are also integrated as 3D channels in organic electrochemical transistors as part of

Radiotherapy Enhancement by Gold Nanocluster‐functionalized Nanoliposomes Using Polychromatic Orthovoltage X‐ray Irradiation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Lipid drug carriers to which ultra‐small gold nanoparticles were added enabled more efficient radiotherapy of cultured pancreatic cancer tumors. These nanoparticles boosted radiation‐induced damage to tumors by generating more reactive molecules, though higher gold levels are needed for strong benefits.

Understanding Operando Water Management in Hydroxide‐Exchange‐Membrane Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Effective water management is vital for high‐performance hydroxide‐exchange‐membrane fuel cells. Using a custom water‐flux station, this study quantifies how membrane thickness, microporous layers, and operating conditions dictate internal water transport.

Amido‐Amine Co(II) Precursor‐Based Atomic/Molecular Layer Deposition Processes for Cobalt‐Organic Thin Films and Their Thermal Conversion to CoO Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Three new atomic/molecular layer deposition processes are developed for Co‐organic thin films using a promising all‐nitrogen‐coordinated cobalt precursor. The study examines film growth, reaction mechanisms, chemical stability, and decomposition pathways of the resulting films through extensive characterization techniques and DFT calculations ...
