Triboelectric Capacitance Supplementation in Energy Storage Composites with Functionalized Carbon Fiber Electrodes

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 16, 17 March 2026.
Triboelectric contact electrification evaluation between structural supercapacitor layers using surface‐functionalized carbon fiber electrodes. Electrospun nanofiber separators can aid in capacitance augmentation by leveraging the contact electrification effect of dissimilar materials.

Automated Plasmon‐Selective Laser Writing in Mesoporous Thin Films Through Decoupling of the Initiator Absorption and Plasmon Wavelength

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 3, March 2026.
Plasmon‐selective direct laser writing is demonstrated in mesoporous silica thin films containing plasmonic Au nanospheres. The key to attain plasmon‐selective polymerization is decoupling the plasmon wavelength from the absorption profile of coreactants, hence suppressing mutual radiative interactions.

ESPERDYNE: A dual‐band heterodyne monitor and ultrasound recorder for bioacoustic field surveys

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 3, Page 768-777, March 2026.
Abstract Background. Ultrasonic monitoring is essential for ecological studies of bats and other animals, yet high‐performance field devices remain prohibitively expensive and inaccessible—particularly in biodiversity‐rich regions with limited research infrastructure.

Antitrust for the fintech era

open access: yesAmerican Business Law Journal, Volume 63, Issue 1, Page 57-78, Spring 2026.
Abstract The emerging relationship between fintechs and banks has revealed antitrust's antiquation. At one time, scholars predicted that fintechs could democratize banking while providing a critical source of competition. But then banks began to acquire their digital rivals: about 900 acquisitions of fintechs have taken place since 2021.

Feelings Without Emotion: Rethinking Male Friendship and the Value of Personal Reticence

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, Volume 128, Issue 1, Page 171-182, March 2026.
ABSTRACT In various Euro‐American contexts, commentators have highlighted how emotional reticence inhibits men's ability to understand themselves and connect with others. More generally, public discourses of affective expressivity often present curtailed emotion as a form of “repression.” Through an ethnographic account of male railway enthusiasts ...

Affective Infrastructure: Capitalism's Specters in the Ecovillage Findhorn Community

open access: yesAnthropology of Consciousness, Volume 37, Issue 1, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT The Ecovillage Findhorn Community (EFC) in Northeast Scotland seeks to live in harmony with nature. How the community has done this over its 60‐plus years has changed from social communalism, where residents lived in cheap caravans, to now mostly privately‐owned expensive ‘eco’ houses with green technology.
