Quantification of Phosphorylated Tau Protein in Alzheimer's Disease Patients’ Fluids With Electrolyte‐Gated Organic Transistor Biosensors

Dementia syndrome affects millions of people in the world, and Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause. We report the detection of the specific biomarker for AD, p‐tau‐181, from physiological to pathological concentrations in cerebrospinal fluid using an electrolyte‐gated organic transistor biosensor.

Photovoltaic Stimulation of Mouse and Pig Retina With Pyrolytic Carbon Microelectrodes Integrated on High‐Density Silicon Solar Cell Arrays

In this study, we fabricate photovoltaic retinal implants with pyrolytic carbon electrodes and test their ability to stimulate mouse and pig retinas when illuminated with near‐infrared light. We find increased spiking activity in both animal models compared to spontaneous activity and TTX controls and analyze the spike amplitude, latency and frequency.

Hydrophilic Polymers Enable Gastrointestinal Transit Monitoring by Fluorine‐19 Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Hydrophilic fluorinated copolymers dissolve in chyme and give a strong, single 19F signal, unlike phase‐separating perfluorocarbons. Combined 1H‐19F MRI tracks their whole‐gut transit non‐invasively and without ionizing radiation. In rats, the tracers move through the gastrointestinal tract, resist resorption, and are well tolerated, a proof‐of‐concept
