A secure routing protocol with node selfishness resistance in MANETs
International Journal of Mobile Communications, 2012In Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs), available nodes must act as their own router and also rely on other nodes to relay communication packets. However, some intermediate nodes may refuse to forward packets to other nodes or discard route-discovery requests from others to save power, as much as those consumed during the message transmission phase.

Detection and deletion of selfish MANET nodes-a distributed approach
2012 1st International Conference on Recent Advances in Information Technology (RAIT), 2012MANET nodes use cooperative multi-hope packet forwarding technique hence they also perform the functionality of router. The individual nodes are constrained by resources such as battery life, limited network bandwidth and CPU cycles. To save its resources a node may deny to forward packets to others for saving the resources.

Outwitting smart selfish nodes in wireless mesh networks
International Journal of Communication Systems, 2012SUMMARYSelfish nodes are nodes that are reluctant to forward packets for others in wireless mesh networks. One of the effective techniques to remove them is to share the information of identified selfish nodes in the network. However, most selfish node detection schemes rarely address the trustworthiness of their shared information in the network.

On improving the efficiency of truthful routing in MANETs with selfish nodes
Pervasive and Mobile Computing, 2007In Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs), nodes depend upon each other for routing and forwarding packets. However, nodes belonging to independent authorities in MANETs may behave selfishly and may not forward packets to save battery and other resources. To stimulate cooperation, nodes are rewarded for their forwarding service.

The Impact of Node Selfishness on Multicasting in Delay Tolerant Networks
IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2011Due to the uncertainty of transmission opportunities between mobile nodes, delay tolerant networks (DTNs) exploit the opportunistic forwarding mechanism. This mechanism requires nodes to forward messages in a cooperative and selfish way. However, in the real word, most of the nodes exhibit selfish behaviors, such as individual and social selfishness ...

Research of Node Incentive Strategy in Selfish Opportunistic Network
2018 IEEE/ACIS 17th International Conference on Computer and Information Science (ICIS), 2018Nodes in selfish opportunistic network are selfish when forwarding messages due to limited resources. To solve the problem, this paper proposes a kind of node incentive strategy based on the overdraft virtual currency mechanism NISOVCM. The strategy designs an overdraft virtual currency mechanism, which solving the problem of virtual currency issue by ...

In this paper, we investigate the multiservice delivery between the source–destination pairs in distributed selfish wireless networks (SeWN), where selfish relay nodes (RN) expose their selfish behaviors, i.e., forwarding or dropping multiservices. Owing to the effect of the RNs’ node-selfishness on the multiservices, a distributed framework of the ...

Cognitive Wireless Network with Cooperative and Selfish Nodes
2014 3rd International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies, 2014In this paper we report on our fundamental results and new work on building cognitive wireless networks that complete resource sharing in a local environment. We emphasize two fundamentals issues. First, a cognitive network with full cooperative nodes. Second, the cooperative and not cooperative behavior of selfish users in our network. The cooperative

Selfish nodes detection in delay tolerant networks
2015 International Conference on Futuristic Trends on Computational Analysis and Knowledge Management (ABLAZE), 2015Delay Tolerance Network is a complete wireless network. In DTN there is no base station as present in existing wireless networks. To deliver a message DTN uses store, carry and forward Policy. There are a number of nodes present in the environment as some of them are malicious nodes.
