Mediation as Therapeutic Resolution for Conflicts about Patient Health and Care

This article shows how mediation can be a form of ‘therapeutic resolution’ in adult health and care disputes. These are typically disputes that arise under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 about an adult's best interests but also include complaints about adult health and care provision.

Obligation, Exemption and Remission: The Multi‐Layered Functioning of the Poll Tax (Cizye) in Ottoman Governance during the Long Eighteenth Century

Abstract This article examines the poll tax (Ottoman Turkish cizye; Arabic jizya) levied on non‐Muslim subjects of the Ottoman Empire, not as a fixed, one‐dimensional tax item within the Ottoman fiscal system but as a multi‐layered administrative instrument organized around obligation, exemption and remission.

Polypropylene Nanoplastic Exposure to Respiratory Epithelial Barrier‐On‐Chip and Interfacial Interactions With Human Serum Albumin

Exposure to 305 nm PP NPs significantly disrupts the airway barrier‐on‐chip, reducing TEER, suppressing ZO‐1/ACE2 expression, and triggering ROS‐mediated apoptosis. In biological media, PP NPs exhibit a biphasic adsorption pattern, leading to the formation of a protein corona that increases their size to 364 nm.

CP32, a novel anti‐oomycete cyclic peptide, interferes with cell‐wall deposition in Phytophthora infestans

The small cyclic peptide CP32 effectively inhibits Phytophthora infestans, the causal agent of potato and tomato late blight. Combined biochemical and phenotypic analyses demonstrate that CP32 disrupts cell wall biosynthesis, a key process in pathogen infection, resulting in a marked reduction of disease symptoms in plants.
