Tumor clusters with divergent inflammation and human retroelement expression determine the clinical outcome of patients with serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

The influence of draw ratio on morphology and thermal properties of MFCs based on PP and PET [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The main goal of this study is to investigate the influence of draw ratio on morphology and properties in microfibrillar composites (MFCs). In situ MFCs based on polypropylene (PP) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) have been prepared at the weight ...

Strain and crack development in continuous reinforced concrete slabs subjected to catenary action [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Several structural calamities in the second half of the 20th century have shown that adequate collapse-resistance cannot be achieved by designing the individual elements of a structure without taking their interconnectivity into consideration.

A DIA‐MS‐based proteomics approach to find potential serum prognostic biomarkers in glioblastoma patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A DIA‐MS‐based proteomics analysis of serum samples from GB patients and healthy controls showed that high levels of IL1R2 and low levels of CRTAC1 and HRG in serum are associated with poor survival outcomes for GB patients. These circulating proteins could serve as biomarkers for the prediction of outcome in patients with GB.

SEM and SEM by EDX Analysis of Air-Processed SmBa2Cu3Oy

open access: yesPhysics Procedia, 2016
AbstractThe present investigation focuses on the microstructure and chemical analysis of the in-air processed SmBa2Cu3Oy (Sm-123) sample with 3 wt% BaO2 and 20 wt% Ag2O addition. DC magnetization measurements showed a sharp superconducting transition with onset Tc at around 94.5K.

Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

Chimeric diphtheria toxin–CCL8 cytotoxic peptide for breast cancer management

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
DTCCL8 is a recombinant fusion toxin that targets cancer cells expressing chemokine receptors. By combining diphtheria toxin with CCL8, DTCCL8 binds to multiple receptors on tumor cells and induces selective cytotoxicity. This strategy enables receptor‐mediated targeting of cancer and may support the development of chemokine‐guided therapeutics ...

On the Scalability and Message Count of Trickle-based Broadcasting Schemes

open access: yes, 2015
As the use of wireless sensor networks increases, the need for efficient and reliable broadcasting algorithms grows. Ideally, a broadcasting algorithm should have the ability to quickly disseminate data, while keeping the number of transmissions low.
