A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

A Semantic Infosphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We describe a prototype implementation of a semantic filtering capability added to an existing XML-based publish and subscribe infrastructure. An ontology is used to provide vocabulary for expressing both 1) the semantic annotations that characterize the published documents and 2) the subscriptions specifying the class of documents to be routed to a ...

PASTA‐ELN: Simplifying Research Data Management for Experimental Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Research data management faces ongoing hurdles as many ELNs remain complex and restrictive. PASTA‐ELN offers an open‐source, cross‐platform solution that prioritizes simplicity, offline access, and user control. Its in tuitive folder structure, modular Python add‐ons, and open formats enable seamless documentation, FAIR data practices, and easy ...

On phase semantics and denotational semantics: the exponentials

open access: yesAnnals of Pure and Applied Logic, 2001
An indexed version of propositional linear logic with exponentials is defined together with a sequent calculus for this system. To a formula \(A\) of indexed linear logic are associated: an underlying formula \(\underline{A}\) of linear logic, an interpretation \(|\underline{A}|\) of this formula in the category of sets and relations, and a family ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

On the emergent Semantic Web and overlooked issues [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The emergent Semantic Web, despite being in its infancy, has already received a lotof attention from academia and industry. This resulted in an abundance of prototype systems and discussion most of which are centred around the underlying infrastructure.
