Certified Semantics for Relational Programming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We present a formal study of semantics for the relational programming language miniKanren. First, we formulate a denotational semantics which corresponds to the minimal Herbrand model for definite logic programs. Second, we present operational semantics which models interleaving, the distinctive feature of miniKanren implementation, and prove its ...

Word Embedding for Semantically Relative Words: an Experimental Study

open access: yesМоделирование и анализ информационных систем, 2018
The ability to identify semantic relations between words has made a word2vec model widely used in NLP tasks. The idea of word2vec is based on a simple rule that a higher similarity can be reached if two words have a similar context.

Ways of Semantic Derivation and Types of Relations between Meanings in Adjective Semantic Structure

open access: yesНаучный диалог, 2019
The polysemy of an adjective as a semantic and grammatical phenomenon is studied. The semantic structure of a polysemantic adjective and the character of motivational relations between its lexico-semantic variants are analyzed. The connection between the

A combination of thematic and similarity-based semantic processes confers resistance to deficit following left hemisphere stroke

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2012
Semantic knowledge may be organized in terms of similarity relations based on shared features and/or complementary relations based on co-occurrence in events.

THE CONTENT AND THE STRUCTURE OF THE NUCLEAR AND CIRCUMNUCLEAR ZONES OF LEXICAL-SEMANTIC FIELD “INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS” ON THE MATERIAL OF F. DOSTOEVSKY’S NOVEL “THE IDIOT”

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Language Studies, Semiotics and Semantics, 2018
The article discusses the structure of lexical-semantic field “interpersonal relations” based on the novel “The Idiot”, by F. Dostoevsky. In the article we describe the set of lexical item representing the field, as well as the place of units of the ...

Automatic and controlled semantic retrieval: TMS reveals distinct contributions of posterior middle temporal gyrus and angular gyrus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Semantic retrieval involves both (1) automatic spreading activation between highly related concepts and (2) executive control processes that tailor this activation to suit the current context or goals.

What scientific theories could not be [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
According to the semantic view of scientific theories, theories are classes of models. I show that this view -- if taken seriously as a formal explication -- leads to absurdities.

Evaluating Semantic Relations by Exploring Ontologies on the Semantic Web [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate the problem of evaluating the correctness of a semantic relation and propose two methods which explore the increasing number of online ontologies as a source of evidence for predicting correctness. We obtain encouraging results, with some of our measures reaching average precision values of 75%.

Semantic Parsing of Interpage Relations

open access: yes2022 26th International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR), 2022
Page-level analysis of documents has been a topic of interest in digitization efforts, and multimodal approaches have been applied to both classification and page stream segmentation. In this work, we focus on capturing finer semantic relations between pages of a multi-page document.

Cross-Modal Semantic Relations Enhancement With Graph Attention Network for Image-Text Matching

open access: yesIEEE Access
Image-text matching is a vital task in multi-modal intelligence. Recently, researchers have moved beyond simply aligning fragments between image regions and text words at a low level.
