Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Psychological and physiological adaptations to sperm competition in humans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Postcopulatory competition between males, in the form of sperm competition, is a widespread phenomenon in many animal species. The extent to which sperm competition has been an important selective pressure during human evolution remains controversial ...

Quality of Semen Stored in On-the-Farm Semen Tanks

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1980
We assessed the damage to frozen semen packaged in French straws stored for 2 yr in 60 on-the-farm semen tanks on 56 Washington dairy farms. Percentage of motile spermatozoa and percentage of spermatozoa with intact acrosomes were not affected significantly by position of the semen on the rack (top or bottom goblet).

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
