Efficient Implementation of the Semi-Analytical Finite Element Method for Dispersion Curves Calculation in Multilayered Waveguides

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The increasing use of layered materials in various modern industries demands effective non-destructive testing methods. Guided wave testing is a promising solution, but accurate dispersion curves are essential for its reliable implementation.

Guided wave propagation in thermal media through the semi analytical finite element method

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, 2016
In this paper, the issue of the estimation of wave propagation characteristics in thermal media is dealt with. A formulation, named the Thermal Semi Analytical Finite Element, based on the semi analytical finite element approach coupled with the thermal effect is offered. Temperature variations affect the mechanical properties of the waveguide.

A semi-analytical model for deflection analysis of laminated plates with the Newton-Kantorovich-Quadrature method

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2013
A semi-analytical approach for analysis of laminated plates with general boundary conditions under a general distribution of loads is developed. The non-linear equations are solved by the Newton-Kantorovich-Quadrature (NKQ) method which is a combination ...

Obtaining Dispersion Curves of Damped Waves by Employing Semi Analytical Finite Element Formulation

open access: yes, 2015
Semi-analytical finite element (SAFE) method is used for modelling propagation of elastic waves in waveguides of cross-sections uniform along the propagation direction. Dispersion curves, which express the relation between the circular frequency and the wavenumber of propagating wave were obtained.
