A Semi‐Analytical Solution Based on a Numerical Solution of the Solute Transport of a Conservative and Nonreactive Tracer

Groundwater, 2011
In the evaluation of potential risk from ingestion of groundwater near an impacted site, numerical simulation of fate and transport processes of chemicals of concern is often required. If there is potential concern about multiple chemicals, numerical simulation of each chemical separately is often needed.

A semi-analytical solution for the transport of solutes with complex sequences of first-order reactions

Computers & Geosciences, 2019
Abstract A semi-analytical solution for one-dimensional transport of multiple species along a reaction chain is introduced. The DECAY solution considers advection, dispersion, equilibrium sorption, and arbitrarily complex sequences of first-order reactions.

A semi‐analytical solution for swelling around a borehole

International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 1988
AbstractPrevious field and laboratory studies have shown that the creation of a borehole in a saturated cohesive soil mass induces significant pore water suctions in the vicinity of the hole. The dissipation of these pore water suctions (swelling) leads to local increases in the moisture content and hence a softening of the soil around the hole.

Cubic autocatalytic reaction–diffusion equations: semi–analytical solutions

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2002
Summary: The Gray-Scott model of cubic-autocatalysis with linear decay is coupled with diffusion and considered in a one-dimensional reactor (a reaction-diffusion cell). The boundaries of the reactor are permeable, so diffusion occurs from external reservoirs that contain fixed concentrations of the reactant and catalyst. The Galerkin method is used to

Semi-analytical solutions of ordinary differential equations

1993
Summary: We describe a method that allows, in many cases, to solve effectively a wide class of ordinary differential equations describing a mechanical system. The method is based upon the idea of normalization procedure. We present its implementation and some examples of its applications.

Semi-analytical solutions of batch system population balance models

2022
Summary: We propose a semi-analytical method to solve partial integro-differential equations with initial/boundary conditions. This work investigates the semi-analytical solutions of the population balance models (PBMs) for the batch systems. The comparison of obtained solutions with the known exact solutions is given to show the effectiveness of the ...
