Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

A New Linearized Crank-Nicolson Mixed Element Scheme for the Extended Fisher-Kolmogorov Equation

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
We present a new mixed finite element method for solving the extended Fisher-Kolmogorov (EFK) equation. We first decompose the EFK equation as the two second-order equations, then deal with a second-order equation employing finite element method, and ...

Unravelling the Secret of Sulfur Confinement and High Sulfur Utilization in Hybrid Sulfur‐Carbons

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal condensation of inverse vulcanized sulfur‐carbon hybrids enables a bottom‐up sulfur confinement strategy, in which a protective carbon phase is progressively constructed around sulfur species. The resulting carbon nanodomains covalently tether sulfur chains and stabilize radical intermediates. This integrated architecture effectively suppresses

Numerical solutions to heat equations via the spectral method

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
In this article we study a discretized version of the heat equation. For the time semi-discrete problem, we use an implicit Euler's scheme, and for the space discretization we used the spectral method.

“Tear‐And‐Stack” Twisted SrTiO3 Moiré Superlattices for Precise Interfacial Reconstruction and Polar Topology

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The tear‐and‐stack method enables the creation of twisted SrTiO3 bilayers with accurate twist‐angle control, which yield atomically sharp oxide moiré superlattices with emergent exotic topological polar vortices, thereby opening a new pathway for twistronics based on 2D‐like non‐van der Waals oxides.

The weak Galerkin finite element method with or without stabilizer for the damped sine-Gordon equation and its reduced-order simulation

open access: yesElectronic Research Archive
In this work, an efficient scheme is proposed for the 2D damped sine-Gordon equation. The new scheme utilizes the unified weak Galerkin finite element method with or without stabilizer (UWG) in the spatial direction and the second-order explicit ...

A semi-discrete Boltzmann equation based on a finite volume scheme

open access: yes, 2017
In this work we consider the classical non-linear Boltzmann equation, where the unknown is the distribution function $f$, which depends on the time $t$, the vector $\mathbf{x}$ (the position of a molecule) and its velocity $\mathbf $. From the Boltzmann equation we derive a semi-discrete model, which consists in a set of partial differential equations
