Superconvergence of finite element method for parabolic problem

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2000
We study superconvergence of a semi-discrete finite element scheme for parabolic problem. Our new scheme is based on introducing different approximation of initial condition.

Semi-discrete finite difference multiscale scheme for a concrete corrosion model: a priori estimates and convergence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We study a semi-discrete finite difference multiscale scheme for a concrete corrosion model consisting of a system of two-scale reaction–diffusion equations coupled with an ordinary differential equation.

A divergence‐free semi‐implicit finite volume scheme for ideal, viscous, and resistive magnetohydrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, 2018
In this paper, we present a novel pressure‐based semi‐implicit finite volume solver for the equations of compressible ideal, viscous, and resistive magnetohydrodynamics (MHD).

Preferences for post‐traumatic osteoarthritis prevention strategies in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives There is growing interest in evaluating new strategies to delay or prevent post‐traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) in individuals who have sustained anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. This study sought to determine characteristics of potential treatments that are acceptable to patients with ACL injury.

Controlled Discrete-Time Semi-Markov Random Evolutions and Their Applications

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
In this paper, we introduced controlled discrete-time semi-Markov random evolutions. These processes are random evolutions of discrete-time semi-Markov processes where we consider a control. applied to the values of random evolution.

High Order Conservative Semi-Lagrangian Scheme for the BGK Model of the Boltzmann Equation [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Computational Physics, 2019
In this paper, we present a conservative semi-Lagrangian finite-difference scheme for the BGK model. Classical semi-Lagrangian finite difference schemes, coupled with an L-stable treatment of the collision term, allow large time steps, for all the range ...

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

A high-order stabilizer-free weak Galerkin finite element method on nonuniform time meshes for subdiffusion problems

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2023
We present a stabilizer-free weak Galerkin finite element method (SFWG-FEM) with polynomial reduction on a quasi-uniform mesh in space and Alikhanov's higher order L2-$ 1_\sigma $ scheme for discretization of the Caputo fractional derivative in time on ...

On the Total Variation of High-Order Semi-Discrete Central Schemes for Conservation Laws [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We discuss a new fifth-order, semi-discrete, central-upwind scheme for solving one-dimensional systems of conservation laws. This scheme combines a fifth-order WENO reconstruction, a semi-discrete central-upwind numerical flux, and a strong stability ...

Central Schemes for Porous Media Flows

open access: yes, 2009
We are concerned with central differencing schemes for solving scalar hyperbolic conservation laws arising in the simulation of multiphase flows in heterogeneous porous media.
