CALCULATION OF 3-D SURFACE CRACK STRESS INTENSITY FACTOR BASED ON APDL AND UIDL
In engineering, cracks are usually regarded as semi-elliptical surface cracks. It is not easy to establish a complete finite element model of a semi-elliptical surface crack, thus a quarter of the crack model is generally used to calculate the stress ...

A theoretical model of semi-elliptic surface crack growth
AbstractA theoretical model of semi-elliptic surface crack growth based on the low cycle strain damage accumulation near the crack tip along the cracking direction and the Newman–Raju formula is developed. The crack is regarded as a sharp notch with a small curvature radius and the process zone is assumed to be the size of cyclic plastic zone.

Fully plastic solution for a semi-elliptical surface crack.
To estimate the possibility of LBB (Leak-Before-Break), one of the important design concept for the balance of the safety margin and the economy of the structure, it is necessary to investigate the behavior of the inner surface crack in the structure.

Conformational Switching of Proteins on Material Surfaces Enabled by Peptide‐Oriented Adsorption
Responsive biointerfaces could be achieved using conformationally responsive proteins; however, their interconversion can be lost upon surface adsorption. Herein, we demonstrate that the incorporation a Au binding peptide into calmodulin allows for binding control on Au wherein the protein retains conformational switching. This capability was confirmed

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and
