Assessing Land Use Conflict in the Yangtze River Middle Reaches Megalopolis for 2030: Integrating Landscape Pattern Analysis and Scenario Simulation to Address Uncontrolled and Severe Conflict Zones

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Land use conflicts (LUCs) significantly impact regional food security and ecological security. Identifying LUCs helps cut down ecological risks. This study focuses on the Yangtze River Middle Reaches Megalopolis (YRMRM) as a case, employing a landscape pattern approach to construct a land use conflict measurement model.

Equilibrium Measures for Semi-Markov Processes

open access: yesThe Annals of Probability, 1977
This paper simplifies and extends previous results on the existence of an equilibrium or stationary measure for the age process associated with a semi-Markov chain: $$(\mathbf{I}_{(t)}, \mathbf{Z}_{(t)}) = \text{(last state entered before time t}$$, $$\text{duration of this last sojourn up to} t$$).

The Relationship Between Human Activities and Ecosystem Service Supply–Demand From the Perspective of Land Use Transformation

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The equilibrium between ecosystem service supply and demand relationships (ESSDR) is essential for regional sustainable development. Understanding the relationship between human activity intensity (HAI) and ESSDR from the perspective of land use transformation (LT) is important for ecological management and governance.

SEMI – MARKOV MODEL OF THE FUNCTIONING PROCESS MEASURING INSTRUMENTS

open access: yesИзмерение, мониторинг, управление, контроль, 2022
Background. To substantiate the value of the interval between verifications and to calculate the performance indicators of functioning when measuring instruments (MI) are used for their intended purpose, various models of the functioning of the means ...

Unraveling the Spatiotemporal Dynamics and Nonlinear Drivers of Green Transition of Farmland Use in Major Grain‐Producing Areas: A Case Study of Jiangsu Province, China

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Promoting the green transition of farmland use (GTFU) in major grain‐producing areas is essential for ensuring food security and advancing sustainable agricultural development. However, existing studies on GTFU have predominantly relied on static cross‐sectional analyses, with insufficient attention paid to its nonlinear driving mechanisms. To

An Adaptive Scheduling Algorithm Integrating Hierarchical Reinforcement Learning and Semi-Markov Decision Processes

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Coordinating multiple unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems under strict energy and temporal constraints remains a complex scheduling problem. Existing reinforcement learning methods typically rely on fixed-time-step modeling, which struggles to ...

Extending the hyper‐logistic model to the random setting: New theoretical results with real‐world applications

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
We develop a full randomization of the classical hyper‐logistic growth model by obtaining closed‐form expressions for relevant quantities of interest, such as the first probability density function of its solution, the time until a given fixed population is reached, and the population at the inflection point.

Properties of the Statistical Complexity Functional and Partially Deterministic HMMs

open access: yesEntropy, 2009
Statistical complexity is a measure of complexity of discrete-time stationary stochastic processes, which has many applications. We investigate its more abstract properties as a non-linear function of the space of processes and show its close relation to

A Novel Two‐Stage Flexible Flow Shop Batch Scheduling Model for Grinding Workshops

open access: yesNaval Research Logistics (NRL), EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The growing need for data storage in data centers has increased the demand for mechanical hard disks due to their low cost and high reliability. Aluminum substrates are the most popular base plates for mechanical hard disks because of their high hardness and low cost.

On a Mixed Transient–Asymptotic Result for the Sequential Interval Reliability for Semi-Markov Chains

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, we are concerned with the study of sequential interval reliability, a measure recently introduced in the literature. This measure represents the probability of the system working during a sequence of nonoverlapping time intervals.
