A design model for semi-rigid connections
Engineering Structures, 1990Abstract A three-parameter exponential model is proposed to represent the behaviour of top- and seat-angles with or without double web-angle connections. Two of the parameters, the initial stiffness and the mechanism moment, are theoretically defined and extensively compared with those measured from connection test curves.

Effect of semi-rigid connections on steel column strength
Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 1980Abstract A review has been made of all available experimental data relating to the moment versus in-plane rotational behaviour of practical beam-to-column connection types as used in steel frames. This has clearly shown that all forms of connection possess some stiffness which will act as partial restraint to the column's ends.

The study of welded semi‐rigid connections in fire
The Structural Design of Tall and Special Buildings, 2011SUMMARYConsidering the deterioration of steel properties by temperature increase and the importance of the influence of connection behavior on the behavior of steel structures, we find that the exact understanding of the behavior of a specific steel connection in fire as well as the information about the effect of fire on the principal constitutive ...

Unbraced Frames with Semi-Rigid Composite Connections
Engineering Journal, 1990The benefits of semi-rigid connections are well known and much has been written about their use in braced frames and in Type 2 construction. One of the reasons these methods are not being used frequently by designers is that most semi-rigid connections are highly nonlinear, and analysis of the behavior of frames using them is difficult.
