Multimodal Locomotion in Insect‐Inspired Microrobots: A Review of Strategies for Aerial, Surface, Aquatic, and Interfacial Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.

Comments concerning crack width calculation in joints of steel-concrete composite slabs

open access: yesBudownictwo i Architektura, 2014
In this paper some aspects of the calculation of the width of cracks in joints of steel-concrete composite slabs are reported. The code concerning design of composite steel and concrete structures for the calculation of crack widths refers to the code of

Gait Analysis of Pak Biawak: A Necrobot Lizard Built using the Skeleton of an Asian Water Monitor (Varanus Salvator)

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Pak Biawak, a necrobot, embodies an unusual fusion of biology and robotics. Designed to repurpose natural structures after death, it challenges conventional boundaries between nature and engineering. Its movements are precise yet unsettling, raising questions about sustainability, ethics, and the untapped potential of biointegrated machines.

Standardisation of partial strength connections of extended end-plate connections for trapezoid web profiled steel sections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Traditionally, connections are usually classified as pinned or rigid although the actual behaviour is known to fall between these two extreme cases. The use of partial strength or semi-rigid connections has been encouraged by codes and studies on the ...

Characterizing the universal rigidity of generic frameworks

open access: yes, 2014
A framework is a graph and a map from its vertices to E^d (for some d). A framework is universally rigid if any framework in any dimension with the same graph and edge lengths is a Euclidean image of it. We show that a generic universally rigid framework

Universal Gripper for Industrial Manipulation With Enhanced Rigid Mechanics and Self‐Adaptable Fingers

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
An enhanced universal gripper combining rigid mechanics with self‐adaptable fingers is presented for industrial automation. The novel six‐bar linkage with integrated compliant pad eliminates mechanical interference while enabling passive shape adaptation.

Understanding and Overcoming Antibody‐Drug Conjugate Resistance: Biological Mechanisms and Emerging Analytical Frameworks in Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs) transform breast cancer therapy, yet resistance limits their durability. Emerging evidence reveals that ADC failure is not solely tumor‐intrinsic but shaped by dynamic tumor–microenvironment interactions that alter drug delivery, processing, and response.

Cryo‐EM Structure Guided Engineering of Botulinum Neurotoxin A With Advanced Receptor Binding Affinity and Therapeutical Benefits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The butterfly unfolded wing in an open form structure of botulinum neurotoxin type A (BoNT/A) at physiological‐state was confirmed at 2.85 Å resolution by cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM). Structure‐guided protein engineering significantly enhanced the receptor‐binding affinity, therapeutic efficacy, and safety of the engineered toxin variants ...
