We developed an improved model in order to predict the RF behavior and the slow light properties of the SOA valid for any experimental conditions. It takes into account the dynamic saturation of the SOA, which can be fully characterized by a simple ...

Wavelength conversion up to 18 nm at 10 Gb/s by four-wave mixing in a semiconductor optical amplifier [PDF]
We characterize the conversion bandwidth of a four-wave mixing semiconductor optical amplifier wavelength converter. Conversion of 10-Gb/s signals with bit-error-rate (BER) performance of

In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Optical computing with semiconductor optical amplifiers [PDF]
Increasing communication traffic and plans to increase various services may cause a serious problem towards the power consumption of network equipment. One of the causes of large power consumption in the present network is the multiplexing scheme, such as wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and electrical routing of the packet signals.

Packet equalisation in PONs using adjustable gain-clamped semiconductor optical amplifiers (AGC-SOA) [PDF]
The past ten years have witnessed a dramatic growth in the delivery of high bandwidth services through Passive Optical Networks (PONs), directly to the home or to the kerb.

Integration of Low‐Voltage Nanoscale MoS2 Memristors on CMOS Microchips
This article presents the first monolithic integration of nanoscale MoS2‐based memristors into the back‐end‐of‐line of foundry‐fabricated CMOS microchips in a one‐transistor‐one‐resistor (1T1R) architecture. The MoS2‐based 1T1R cells exhibit forming‐free, nonvolatile resistive switching with ultra‐low operating voltages, low cycle‐to‐cycle variability ...

All Optical Logic Gates: A Tutorial
In this paper we describe the performances of different kinds of all-optical logic gates reported up to now. We introduce all-optical logic gates based on semiconductor optical amplifiers such as ultrahigh speed logic gates exploiting four-wave mixing ...

Numerical Modeling of the Emission Characteristics of Semiconductor Quantum Dash Materials for Lasers and Optical Amplifiers [PDF]
This paper deals with the simulation of the emission characteristics of self-assembled semiconductor quantum dash (QDash) active materials, characterized by high length-to-width and width-to-height ratios of the dash size and by a wide spreading of the ...
