The lamina propria of the bovine seminiferous tubule

Cell and Tissue Research, 1979
The boundary tissue of bovine testicular seminiferous tubules exhibits remarkable regional differences at the level of the seminiferous tubule proper, as compared with its terminal segment. The basal lamina of the seminiferous tubule proper is multilayered and possesses knob-like protrusions.

Contractile Cells in Human Seminiferous Tubules

Science, 1966
Electron microscopic study of the peritubular connective tissue in human testis reveals the presence of "contractile-type" cells rather than of typical fibrocytes. Their cytoplasm has numerous fine filaments and other components characteristic of smooth muscle cells. The rough-surfaced endoplasmic reticulum, however, is relatively prominent.

Intercellular communication in rat seminiferous tubules

Developmental Biology, 1983
Intercellular electrical coupling in seminiferous tubules from prepubescent and adult Wistar rats has been studied by using conventional techniques. It is found that cells in the seminiferous epithelium are electrically coupled. Experiments performed using "Sertoli cell-enriched" seminiferous tubules indicate the existence of intercellular ionic ...

Seminiferous Tubule Dysgenesis

American Journal of Diseases of Children, 1961
The following case of Klinefelter's syndrome (seminiferous tubule dysgenesis), confirmed by testicular biopsy and chromosome count, is of interest because of the youth of the patient. Report of Case The patient (Fig. 1) is a 10-month-old Puerto Rican boy who was admitted to the hospital because of recurrent episodes of pneumonia. The parents, both 23

Histopathological diagnosis of hypercurved seminiferous tubules

Histopathology, 1980
A simple method for the recognition of hypercurvature of the seminiferous tubules in otherwise normal biopsies from infertile males consists of the recognition of characteristic ‘figure 8’ profiles of sectioned seminiferous tubules. Nineteen cases of morphometrically verified hypercurvature and 24 controls were tested in order to determine the validity

Ultrasonic Evaluation of Seminiferous Tubules by Frequency Map

2012 Fifth International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering and Technology, 2012
This paper describes a seminiferous tubules evaluation system using an ultrasonic probe. This system evaluates diameters of seminiferous tubules for azoospermia patients. We employ a 5.0MHz ultrasonic single probe. In the experiment, we employ large and small nylon lines as the healthy and unhealthy seminiferous tubules.

Extracellular purines from cells of seminiferous tubules

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 2003
It has been long postulated that extracellular purines can modulate the function of the male reproductive system by interacting with different purinergic receptors of Sertoli and germinative cells. Many authors have described the biological changes induced by extracellular ATP and/or adenosine in these cells, and some hypothetical models for paracrine ...

Sertoli cell proteins in the human seminiferous tubule

Journal of Steroid Biochemistry, 1989
It is well known that rat Sertoli cells in culture secrete both testis-specific proteins, such as inhibin and androgen binding protein (ABP), and proteins which are very similar, if not identical, to serum proteins, such as transferrin (TF), ceruloplasmin, and IGF-I.

Testosterone micromilieu in staged rat seminiferous tubules

Journal of Steroid Biochemistry, 1990
Endogenous testosterone concentrations in rat seminiferous tubules were measured in relation to different stages of the cycle of the seminiferous epithelium. For this purpose, the seminiferous tubules were mechanically separated from the interstitial tissue on a cooled (1 degree C) petri dish under a stereomicroscope without added medium.
