The clinical and morphological features of 7 cases of anaplastic seminoma are reviewed. Although this tumor appears to behave more aggressively than classical seminoma, presenting with earlier metastases, it has the same prognosis when staging is taken into consideration. Radiotherapy remains the treatment of choice.

A series of malignant seminomas of the mediastinum is presented and compared with previously reported series. The difficulty of conclusively excluding occult primary gonadal disease is noted. Primary mediastinal seminomas are associated with a better prognosis than teratomas of this site, mainly because of their radiosensitivity.

A case of retroperitoneal seminoma is discussed, emphasizing the importance of diagnosing the primary lesion. Although the testes were normal to palpation and exploration a focus of seminoma was recognized in the left testicle. We prefer radical treatment of this potentially curable disease.
