Passive immunotherapy rapidly increases structural plasticity in a mouse model of Alzheimer disease

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2009
Senile plaque-associated changes in neuronal connectivity such as altered neurite trajectory, dystrophic swellings, and synapse and dendritic spine loss are thought to contribute to cognitive dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease and mouse models ...

Nanoscopic Mapping of the Extracellular Space in Amyloid Plaque‐rich Cortex

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 1, 5 January 2026.
The extracellular space and diffusion around amyloid plaques are examined using shadow imaging and single‐particle tracking. Increased diffusivity is found near plaques, extracellular matrix alterations, and plaque core penetrability that varies with amyloid phenotype.

Interpretable classification of Alzheimer's disease pathologies with a convolutional neural network pipeline. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Neuropathologists assess vast brain areas to identify diverse and subtly-differentiated morphologies. Standard semi-quantitative scoring approaches, however, are coarse-grained and lack precise neuroanatomic localization.

Altered Expression of the CB1 Cannabinoid Receptor in the Triple Transgenic Mouse Model of Alzheimer's Disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The endocannabinoid system has gained much attention as a new potential pharmacotherapeutic target in various neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Brain‐peripheral proteome crosstalk in Alzheimer's disease with and without diabetes mellitus

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Although considerable research has investigated diabetes mellitus (DM) as a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD) dementia, the mechanistic understanding of the associations between peripheral and central biological processes in AD and AD within DM remains limited.

Rodent Aβ Modulates the Solubility and Distribution of Amyloid Deposits in Transgenic Mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The amino acid sequence of amyloid precursor protein (APP) is highly conserved, and age-related Abeta aggregates have been described in a variety of vertebrate animals, with the notable exception of mice and rats.

Bilateral senile scleral plaques mimicking post-inflammatory scleral ectasia

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2004
Scleral plaque is a commonly occurring change in older individuals. We report a case of bilateral scleral plaques seen in an elderly female patient.

Targeting neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Almost 47 million people suffer from dementia worldwide, with an estimated new case diagnosed every 3.2 seconds. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) accounts for approximately 60%–80% of all dementia cases. Given this evidence, it is clear dementia represents one

The Alzheimer variant of Lewy body disease: A pathologically confirmed case-control study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The objective of the study was to identify clinical features that distinguish patients with dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), who were classified as Alzheimer's disease ( AD) patients, from patients with AD.
