ATP stimulates chemically sensitive and sensitizes mechanically sensitive afferents
American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 2002We examined whether ATP stimulation of P2X purinoceptors would raise blood pressure in decerebrate cats. Femoral arterial injection of the P2X receptor agonist α,β-methylene ATP into the blood supply of the triceps surae muscle induced a dose-dependent increase in arterial blood pressure. The maximal increase in mean arterial pressure (MAP) evoked by 0.

How Sensitive is Sensitivity Training?
American Journal of Psychiatry, 1969The author describes three cases of emotional disturbance aggravated by sensitivity training. No quackery was detected, but the absence of ethical standards and an apparent abrogation of responsibility by the trainers and their sponsoring institutions was noted.

Punctate sensitivity of the blue-sensitive mechanism
Vision Research, 1981Abstract Thresholds were measured for a tiny, brief, violet flash on a long wavelength, B cone-isolating background in foveal locations spaced only 4 or 5′ of arc apart. Large spatial variations in B cone sensitivity were found just beyond the foveal tritanopic area even though thresholds for the same wavelength test flash hardly varied at all across

Attention bias and sensitization in chemical sensitivity
Journal of Psychosomatic Research, 2009We investigated whether persons with self-reported chemical sensitivity (CS) have an attention bias and enhanced sensitization to chemical exposure.Chemosomatosensory, olfactory, and auditory event-related potentials (ERPs) were recorded from 21 CS subjects and 17 controls in attend and ignore conditions.

Noise Sensitivity and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
Noise & Vibration Worldwide, 2013Noise sensitivity is a personality trait covering attitudes to noise in general. Multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) is the most commonly used label for clinical chemical intolerance. This study aimed to investigate if the Weinstein's Noise Sensitivity Scale and Quick Environmental Exposure and Sensitivity Inventory's (QEESI) Chemical Intolerance ...

Abstract This paper deals with the synthesis of an epoxy-based resin (Epidian 1) and chlorides of substituted derivatives of cinnamic acid in non-aqueous pyridine. The structures of the epoxyesters were obtained by quantitative analysis of functional groups and various spectroscopic methods such as UV and IR.

LyralR is an important sensitizer in patients sensitive to fragrances
British Journal of Dermatology, 1999Contact allergy to fragrances is a common problem world-wide. The currently used fragrance mix (FM) for patch testing has only eight constituents and does not identify all fragrance-allergic patients. As perfumes may contain 100 or more substances, the search for markers for allergy continues.

Contact Dermatitis, 1975
Contact allergic sensitivity may follow the use of chlorocresol incorporated us a preservative in to both betamethasone cream and aqueous cream, which are commonly prescribed as a mixture in South Australia. In several cases, although the clinical courses indicated sensitivity to chlorocresol, patch test reactions to this chemical were negative.

The sensitivity condition on knowledge says that one knows that P only if one would not believe that P if P were false. Difficulties for this condition are now well documented. Keith DeRose has recently suggested a revised sensitivity condition that is designed to avoid some of these difficulties.

Sensitivity dipole and the sensitivity points method
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1964Publisher Summary This chapter describes sensitivity dipole and the sensitivity points method. In addition to the general methods of computing sensitivity functions, several special methods have been developed for certain classes of systems. Among these, the method of sensitivity points is particularly useful for linear systems, offering two ...
