In this paper, I argue that there are good motivations for a relativist account of the domain-sensitivity of quantifier phrases. I will frame the problem as a puzzle involving what looks like a logically valid inference, yet one whose premises are true while the conclusion is false. After discussing some existing accounts, literalist and contextualist,

Publishing and sharing sensitive data [PDF]
Sensitive data has often been excluded from discussions about data publication and sharing. It was believed that sharing sensitive data is not ethical or that it is too difficult to do safely.

Bat eyes have ultraviolet-sensitive cone photoreceptors [PDF]
Mammalian retinae have rod photoreceptors for night vision and cone photoreceptors for daylight and colour vision. For colour discrimination, most mammals possess two cone populations with two visual pigments (opsins) that have absorption maxima at short

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Review of non-market values of water sensitive systems and practices: An update [PDF]
Water sensitive systems and practices provide multiple indirect benefits such as environmental and ecological services. However, due to a lack of information on the monetized value of these services many of these services are not considered during ...

Outdoor performance of a motion-sensitive neuron in the blowfly [PDF]
Egelhaaf M, Grewe J, Kern R, Warzecha A-K. Outdoor performance of a motion-sensitive neuron in the blowfly. Vision research. 2001;41(27):3627-3637.We studied an identified motion-sensitive neuron of the blowfly under outdoor conditions.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Constructions of sensitive graphs which are not strongly sensitive
Let \(G\) be a simple graph with vertex set \(V(G)\) and edge set \(E(G)\). For each \(a\) in \(V(G)\), let \(N(a)=\{x\in V(G): ax\in E(G)\}\) be the set of neighbours of \(a\). A subset \(S\) of \(V(G)\) is called a closed set of \(G\) if, for each pair of distinct elements \(a\), \(b\) in \(S\), \(N(a)\cap N(b)\subseteq S\).

Noise beating in hybrid phase-sensitive amplifier systems [PDF]
We investigate the effect of noise loading in a hybrid phase-sensitive amplifier system, analyzing the effect of noise beating between the signal and idler waves coupled in a parametric amplifier.
