Radio Morphology of Gamma-Ray Sources. II. Giant Radio Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Giant radio sources, including galaxies and quasars (hereafter GRSs), are active galactic nuclei (AGN) hosting relativistic jets with source sizes exceeding a projected length of 0.7 Mpc.

Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Role of Deep Fluid Injection in Induced Seismicity in the Delaware Basin, West Texas and Southeast New Mexico

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Rates of seismicity in the Delaware Basin of Texas and New Mexico increased from 10 earthquakes per year of local magnitude (ML) 3.0 and above in 2017 to more than 185 in 2022, coincident with increasing oil and gas production and wastewater re‐injection

Food insecurity among displaced populations in Armenia during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
BackgroundThe 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resulted in displacement of approximately 90,000 ethnic Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia, exacerbating existing vulnerabilities in the region.

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Tabriz model: a qualitative study protocol exploring a decade of implementing a comprehensive child development centre

open access: yesBMJ Open
Introduction Rapid and sensitive early childhood development is vital for lifelong health, cognition and socio-emotional well-being. Suboptimal care during these formative years increases the risk of developmental delays affecting motor, cognitive ...

Deterministic Detection of Single Ion Implantation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam implantation with high detection efficiencies will enable the rapid and scalable fabrication of advanced spin‐based technologies such as qubits. This work presents the detection efficiencies of a wide range of ions implanted into solid‐state hosts, with efficiencies of >90% recorded for ion species and substrate combinations of ...

Evaluation of Plasticity and Creep Parameters From Tensile Stress–Strain Data for a Range of Strain Rates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This plot compares experimental tensile stress–strain curves (with 4 different strain rates) and corresponding modelled curves (obtained using the optimised sets of Voce and Miller–Norton parameter values shown). The inferred M‐N values, characterizing the creep, are very similar to those obtained via conventional creep testing.

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.
