Stress sensitive element

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009
A stress sensitive element includes a vibrating arm having an electrode, a beam portion integrated with the vibrating arm at both ends of the vibration arm, and a connecting portion interposed between the beam portion and the vibrating arm. The element is placed by providing a fixing portion to one of the connecting portion and the beam portion, and an

Polarization-Sensitive Diffractive Optical Elements

Biomedical Optics and 3-D Imaging, 2010
Polarization gratings were formed on a write-once type polarization-sensitive medium and their polarization characteristics were evaluated. A circularly polarized beam splitting function was observed in an orthogonally circular polarization grating.

Cryoelectron microscopy with elemental sensitivity

Structure
In a recent issue of Nature Methods, Pfeil-Gardiner et al. (2024)1 combine electron energy-loss spectroscopy and single-particle cryoelectron microscopy to allow the spatially resolved imaging of the elemental composition of macromolecules.

Ultra-sensitive graphene Hall elements

Applied Physics Letters, 2014
Hall elements were fabricated based on high quality chemical vapor deposition grown graphene, and their performance limit was explored. The as-fabricated graphene Hall element exhibits current-related sensitivity of up to 2093 V/AT under 200 μA, and magnetic resolution of around 1 mG/Hz0.5 at 3 kHz.

Reversible pH-sensitive element based on bromocresol purple immobilized into the polymethacrylate matrix

Mendeleev communications (Print), 2018
Reversible pH-sensitive element based on bromocresol purple immobilized into the polymethacrylate matrix was developed. Applications of the pH-sensitive element for continuous monitoring pH of aqueous solution were demonstrated.

Cultural-Bound Elements of Ethical Sensitivity

2016
In this chapter we investigate the culture-invariant and culture-dependent nature of ethical sensitivity within the educational contexts of three countries. Our multiple case studies involve the Netherlands (n = 633), Finland (n = 864), and Iran (n = 556).

Lifetime prediction of fatigue sensitive structural elements

Structural Safety, 1993
Abstract The propagation of uncertainty from the mechanical and geometrical properties of a structural element to fracture mechanics parameters, as the stress intensity factor and the J integral, is studied using a stochastic finite element method.

Element-Sensitive Computed Tomography with Fast Neutrons

Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 1983
Neutrons and X-rays are mathematically equivalent as probes in computed tomography. However, structure in the energy dependence of neutron total cross sections and the feasibility of using time-of-flight techniques for energy sensitivity in neutron detection suggest that spatial distributions of specific substances can be determined from neutron ...

Response Sensitivity for Nonlinear Beam–Column Elements

Journal of Structural Engineering, 2004
Response sensitivity is needed for simulation applications such as optimization, reliability, and system identification. The exact response sensitivity of material nonlinear beam-column elements is derived for the displacement- and force-based formulations.
