A Bayesian Joint Modelling for Misclassified Interval-censoring and Competing Risks [PDF]
In active surveillance of prostate cancer, cancer progression is interval-censored and the examination to detect progression is subject to misclassification, usually false negatives. Meanwhile, patients may initiate early treatment before progression detection, constituting a competing risk.

Male infertility is a known risk factor for the development of testicular cancer. In this paper, we analyzed the expression profile of a microRNA panel by real‐time PCR and validated the results by digital PCR. Experimental and bioinformatics analyses allowed us to identify possible biomarkers able to discern men with a higher risk of developing ...

Analysis of ESR1 mutations in plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) is highly important for the selection of treatment in patients with breast cancer. Using multiplex‐ddPCR and identical blood draws, we investigated whether circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and cfDNA provide similar or complementary information for ESR1 mutations.

Understanding and using sensitivity, specificity and predictive values
In this article, we have discussed the basic knowledge to calculate sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value. We have discussed the advantage and limitations of these measures and have provided how we should use ...

Patient‐derived xenografts (PDXs) can be improved by implantation of a humanized niche. We tested different biomaterials and approaches, and demonstrate that the combination of an injectable biomaterial for scaffold creation plus an intravenous route for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) xenotransplantation provide the most convenient and robust approach to

Timing of EEG for predicting the outcome in patients with massive cerebral hemispheric infarction
Objective To determine the optimal timing of electroencephalogram (EEG) in predicting the outcome in patients with massive cerebral hemispheric infarction (MCHI) by evaluating and comparing the EEG changes during different acute stages after onset ...

One Fits All: Learning Fair Graph Neural Networks for Various Sensitive Attributes [PDF]
Recent studies have highlighted fairness issues in Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), where they produce discriminatory predictions against specific protected groups categorized by sensitive attributes such as race and age. While various efforts to enhance GNN fairness have made significant progress, these approaches are often tailored to specific sensitive

Targeted metabolomics reveals novel diagnostic biomarkers for colorectal cancer
This study employed targeted metabolomic profiling to identify 302 distinct metabolites present in platelet‐rich plasma (PRP), revealing aberrant metabolic profiles amongst individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC). Compared to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cancer antigen 19‐9 (CA199), our metabolite panel showed improved sensitivity ...
