Attention bias and sensitization in chemical sensitivity

Journal of Psychosomatic Research, 2009
We investigated whether persons with self-reported chemical sensitivity (CS) have an attention bias and enhanced sensitization to chemical exposure.Chemosomatosensory, olfactory, and auditory event-related potentials (ERPs) were recorded from 21 CS subjects and 17 controls in attend and ignore conditions.

How Sensitive is Sensitivity Training?

American Journal of Psychiatry, 1969
The author describes three cases of emotional disturbance aggravated by sensitivity training. No quackery was detected, but the absence of ethical standards and an apparent abrogation of responsibility by the trainers and their sponsoring institutions was noted.

Noise Sensitivity and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

Noise & Vibration Worldwide, 2013
Noise sensitivity is a personality trait covering attitudes to noise in general. Multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) is the most commonly used label for clinical chemical intolerance. This study aimed to investigate if the Weinstein's Noise Sensitivity Scale and Quick Environmental Exposure and Sensitivity Inventory's (QEESI) Chemical Intolerance ...

Chlorocresol sensitivity

Contact Dermatitis, 1975
Contact allergic sensitivity may follow the use of chlorocresol incorporated us a preservative in to both betamethasone cream and aqueous cream, which are commonly prescribed as a mixture in South Australia. In several cases, although the clinical courses indicated sensitivity to chlorocresol, patch test reactions to this chemical were negative.

In Defense of Sensitivity

Synthese, 2007
The sensitivity condition on knowledge says that one knows that P only if one would not believe that P if P were false. Difficulties for this condition are now well documented. Keith DeRose has recently suggested a revised sensitivity condition that is designed to avoid some of these difficulties.

Sensitivity dipole and the sensitivity points method

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1964
Publisher Summary This chapter describes sensitivity dipole and the sensitivity points method. In addition to the general methods of computing sensitivity functions, several special methods have been developed for certain classes of systems. Among these, the method of sensitivity points is particularly useful for linear systems, offering two ...

Light-sensitive epoxy-based resins: Synthesis, light-sensitivity, spectro-sensitivity and sensitization

Polymer Photochemistry, 1984
Abstract This paper deals with the synthesis of an epoxy-based resin (Epidian 1) and chlorides of substituted derivatives of cinnamic acid in non-aqueous pyridine. The structures of the epoxyesters were obtained by quantitative analysis of functional groups and various spectroscopic methods such as UV and IR.

Sensitive as water

SIGGRAPH Asia 2012 Art Gallery, 2012
The "Water Project" is a video installation in which a physical drip of water triggers a glitch in a digital image file of the sea. Digital representations and spectacular images from screens are highly suspect and unreliable to some degree. However, people are growing ever more attached to screens, and they experience intimacy in a virtual world ...
