Multiple-objective sensor management and optimisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
One of the key challenges associated with exploiting modern Autonomous Vehicle technology for military surveillance tasks is the development of Sensor Management strategies which maximise the performance of the on-board Data-Fusion systems.

LiDAR and Camera Fusion in Autonomous Vehicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
LiDAR and camera can be an excellent complement to the advantages in an autonomous vehicle system. Various fusion methods have been developed for sensor fusion.

An Incentive Scheme for Sensor Fusion With Strategic Sensors

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2019
Distributed estimation that recruits potentially large groups of humans to collect data about a phenomenon of interest has emerged as a paradigm applicable to a broad range of detection and estimation tasks. However, it also presents a number of challenges especially with regard to user participation and data quality, since the data resources may be ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Statistical image fusion with generalised Gaussian and Alpha-Stable distributions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper describes a new methodology for multimodal image fusion based on non-Gaussian statistical modelling of wavelet coefficients of the input images.

Sensor Fusion for Augmented Reality [PDF]

open access: yes2006 9th International Conference on Information Fusion, 2006
In Augmented Reality (AR), the position and orientation of the camera have to be estimated with high accuracy and low latency. This nonlinear estimation problem is studied in the present paper. The proposed solution makes use of measurements from inertial sensors and computer vision.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Approaching Semantically-Mediated Acoustic Data Fusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Our primary hypothesis is that it should be possible to enrich data fusion by semantic processing, with wide potential application. In order to achieve our aim we need to represent the semantic data and enable reasoning about it in a framework that can ...

A Comprehensive Review on Sensor Fusion Techniques for Localization of a Dynamic Target in GPS-Denied Environments

open access: yesIEEE Access
Although Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) typically provide sufficient accuracy for outdoor positioning, positioning systems face significant challenges in complex application scenarios, particularly in GPS-denied environments (GDE).
