Non-contact assessment of cardiac physiology using FO-MVSS-based ballistocardiography: a promising approach for heart failure evaluation

open access: yesScientific Reports
Continuous monitoring of cardiac motions has been expected to provide essential cardiac physiology information on cardiovascular functioning. A fiber-optic micro-vibration sensing system (FO-MVSS) makes it promising.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

A data forwarding algorithm based on Markov thought in underwater wireless sensor networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2017
The underwater wireless sensor networks composed of sensor nodes are deployed underwater for monitoring and gathering submarine data. Since the underwater environment is usually unpredictable, making the nodes move or be damaged easily, such that there ...

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Energy consumption modeling of industrial robot based on simulated power data and parameter identification

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2018
Industrial robots consume a considerable amount of energy in the manufacturing industry. As sustainable manufacturing is one of the directions of manufacturing, the energy efficiency of the industrial robots should be considered.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

EMQP: An Energy-Efficient Privacy-Preserving MAX/MIN Query Processing in Tiered Wireless Sensor Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2013
We consider a hybrid two-tiered sensor network consisting of regular resource-limited sensor nodes and powerful master nodes with abundant resources. In the architecture, master nodes take charge of storing data collected by sensor nodes and processing ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).
