An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Sensor systems: a hierarchical approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The concept of a reference model has been well known in the communications industry for many years. This has provided clearly defined layers and interface standards which allow different organisations and across the industry to develop products ...

Data Dissemination Performance in Large-Scale Sensor Networks

open access: yes, 2014
As the use of wireless sensor networks increases, the need for (energy-)efficient and reliable broadcasting algorithms grows. Ideally, a broadcasting algorithm should have the ability to quickly disseminate data, while keeping the number of transmissions

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Probability Model Based Coverage-Enhancing Algorithm for WSNs of Nodes' Adjustable Movement Pattern

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2012
Aimed at the defects of current coverage-enhancing algorithms, firstly the probability model is introduced into the coverage-enhancing algorithm of the directional sensor network based on the virtual potential field, and the probability model would have ...

Cognitive radio sensor networks

open access: yesIEEE Network, 2009
Dynamic spectrum access stands as a promising and spectrum-efficient communication approach for resource-constrained multihop wireless sensor networks due to their event-driven communication nature, which generally yields bursty traffic depending on the event characteristics.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Multi-dimensional flux balance analysis to optimized resources and energy efficiency in MEC aided 5G networks

open access: yesScientific Reports
5G and 6G development aim to fulfil very low latency, low energy consumption, and great computation ability. In the present era, the number of devices is increasing daily, which requires more communication and computation.

AI-Based Task Classification With Pressure Insoles for Occupational Safety

open access: yesIEEE Access
Pressure insoles allow for the collection of real time pressure data inside and outside a laboratory setting as they are non-intrusive and can be simply integrated into industrial environments for occupational health and safety monitoring purposes ...
