Optisense: Computational Optimization for Strain Sensor Placement in Wearable Motion Tracking Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems
A novel approach to wearable motion tracking that redefines sensor placement strategies is presented. While strain sensors offer compelling advantages over camera‐based systems, most existing methods still rely on intuition‐driven placement and complex ...

A Novel Sensor Placement Strategy Based on Marine Predators Algorithm and Its Application to Transmission Towers

open access: yesBuildings
An effective sensor network strategy is fundamental to structural health monitoring (SHM). Optimal sensor placement (OSP) for transmission towers remains insufficiently studied, primarily owing to the extensive number of candidate nodes and the complex ...

Experimental sensitivity analysis of sensor placement based on virtual springs and damage quantification in CFRP composite

open access: yesJournal of Materials and Engineering Structures, 2022
This paper suggests a method for vibration sensor placement in Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) composite structures in small structure applications where the measuring instrument weight can affect the vibrational characteristics.

DNA ligase LigE increases bacterial transformation with damaged extracellular DNA

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The DNA ligase LigE from the naturally competent Gram‐negative bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoaea increases transformation with cut extracellular DNA. This process is ATP‐dependent and relies on the catalytic activity of LigE; it also requires that LigE contains an intact periplasmic localisation sequence, indicating that ligE functions in the periplasm ...

Spatio-Temporal Field Estimation Using Kriged Kalman Filter (KKF) with Sparsity-Enforcing Sensor Placement

open access: yesSensors, 2018
We propose a sensor placement method for spatio-temporal field estimation based on a kriged Kalman filter (KKF) using a network of static or mobile sensors. The developed framework dynamically designs the optimal constellation to place the sensors.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...
