Sensor Selection Heuristic in Sensor Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We consider the problem of estimating the location of a moving target in a 2-D plane. In this paper, we focus attention on selecting an appropriate 3rd sensor, given two sensors, with a view to minimize the estimation error. Only the selected sensors need to measure distance to the target and communicate the same to the central “tracker”.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Materiales supramoleculares: quimiosensores y otras aplicaciones prácticas

open access: yesTecnociencia Chihuahua, 2023
La química supramolecular tiene como uno de sus objetos de estudio el reconocimiento molecular, el cual es un proceso que involucra cierta complementariedad y selectividad por parte de las especies que interactúan entre sí para generar el complejo o ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

The Sensor Web: systems of sensor systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Earth, 2009
Abstract Global Earth Observing System of Systems (GEOSS) presents a great challenge of System of Systems integration across organisational and political boundaries. One existing paradigm that can address the scale of the challenge is that of the Sensor Web. In this paradigm, the internet is evolving into an active, macro sensing instrument, capable of

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Sensor authentication in collaborating sensor networks

open access: yes2014 13th Annual Mediterranean Ad Hoc Networking Workshop (MED-HOC-NET), 2014
In this paper, we address a new security problem in the realm of collaborating sensor networks. By collaborating sensor networks, we refer to the networks of sensor networks collaborating on a mission, with each sensor network is independently owned and operated by separate entities.
