Anterior Superior Longitudinal Fasciculus Microstructure Correlates With Bimanual Visuomotor Performance in Healthy Younger but Not Older Adults

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 64, Issue 2, July 2026.
Younger adults showed stronger links between bimanual visuomotor control and white‐matter integrity in frontoparietal pathways. These associations were absent in older adults, suggesting that balanced cortical structure and intact white‐matter connectivity support efficient motor coordination primarily in early adulthood.

Assessing the Adaptive/Maladaptive Strategies of Mastication in Older Taiwanese Individuals Using the Masticatory Adaptation Experience Questionnaire (MAEQ)

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, Volume 53, Issue 7, Page 1306-1318, July 2026.
The study aims to establish the Masticatory Adaptation Experience Questionnaire (MAEQ) and investigate age‐related factors of masticatory adaptation. ABSTRACT Background There are various tests to assess the individual performance of mastication. However, it has remained unknown how individuals used adaptive (e.g., ‘increasing time to chew’) and ...

Sensory adaptation [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Neurobiology, 2007
Adaptation occurs in a variety of forms in all sensory systems, motivating the question: what is its purpose? A productive approach has been to hypothesize that adaptation helps neural systems to efficiently encode stimuli whose statistics vary in time.
