Phase Correction in Sensorimotor Synchronization with Nonisochronous Sequences

Music Perception, 2008
PHASE CORRECTION, WHICH IS NECESSARY for synchronization of movements with a rhythm, has been studied primarily with isochronous sequences. We used a phase perturbation method to examine phase correction in synchronization with nonisochronous sequences (3:2 interval ratios), using musically trained participants.

Does dance training influence beat sensorimotor synchronization? Differences in finger-tapping sensorimotor synchronization between competitive ballroom dancers and nondancers

Experimental Brain Research, 2019
Sensorimotor synchronization is the coordination of rhythmic movement with an external beat. Dancers often synchronize each beat of their motion with an external rhythm. Compared with social dancing, competitive ballroom dancing requires a higher level of sensorimotor ability.

Timing and history-dependent processing during sensorimotor synchronization

Brain Research, 2009
Temporal processing is important during skilled actions and often underlies a successful performance. In the present study, functional connectivity profiles as determined by EEG coherence were evaluated in a switching paradigm that assessed the effect of movement rate history upon neural processing.
