Recurrent Maxillary Ameloblastoma Presenting as an External Auditory Canal Mass

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Ameloblastoma with temporal bone involvement is exceedingly rare, with no prior reports of external auditory canal presentation. This case report demonstrates successful multidisciplinary management with extensive skull base resection and adjuvant radiation therapy, emphasizing the role of proton therapy in achieving tissue‐sparing treatment and long ...

Labyrinthine Abnormalities on MRI in Untreated Otosclerosis: Prevalence and Clinical Relevance

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
In untreated otosclerosis with labyrinthine symptoms, delayed 3D FLAIR MRI rarely demonstrates endolymphatic hydrops but frequently reveals blood–labyrinth barrier (BLB) disruption. BLB enhancement is spatially associated with cochlear endosteal and round window involvement and increases with the severity of the hearing loss phenotype.

Auditory Steady State Responses in children and adolescents with severe to profound and steeply sloping sensorineural hearing loss [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
PurposeTo verify the correlation between the electrophysiological thresholds in Auditory Evoked Potential Steady State (ASSR) and behavioral thresholds obtained with pure tone audiometry in children and adolescents with severe to profound sensorineural ...

Long‐Term Outcomes of Deep Brain Stimulation in Woodhouse–Sakati Syndrome

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Woodhouse–Sakati syndrome (WSS) is a rare autosomal recessive disease with distinctive neuroendocrine manifestations, with dystonia being the most common. No clear guidelines are available for the treatment of dystonia in WSS. Objective The aim was to analyze the impact of deep brain stimulation (DBS) on WSS‐associated dystonia ...

Rate of Hearing Loss in Platinum‐Naïve Patients Receiving Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Hearing loss from immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has been documented in case reports and case series. We present the largest retrospective study investigating the rate of ICI‐related ototoxicity in a monitored cohort of platinum‐naïve patients. Study Design Retrospective cohort study. Setting Tertiary‐care center.
