Fishing spiders (Pisauridae) frequent the surfaces of ponds and streams and thereby expose themselves to predation by a variety of aquatic and semi-aquatic vertebrates. To assess the possibility that the impressive jumps of fishing spiders from the water

Feasibility of sand fly control based on knowledge of sensory ecology
DATA AVAILABILITY : No data were used for the research described in the article.Phlebotomine sand flies are vectors of multiple human pathogens but are well known for enabling transmission of Leishmania parasites, which cause leishmaniasis, the visceral

The 3rd‐generation magnetic super‐stable mineralizer M‐MgAl‐700 features a core‐shell structure, strong superparamagnetism, large surface area, and abundant oxygen defects. It achieves exceptional Cd(II) and As(V) mineralization capacities, reducing both pollutants in co‐contaminated water and soil to meet national standards.

Sensory ecology, morphology and behavior of Neotropical leaf-nosed bats
Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Washington, 2019Sensory systems perform fitness-relevant functions, and specialized sensory structures and behavior allow organisms to accomplish challenging tasks. Furthermore, echolocation is a highly complex sense, and in

An atomically dispersed Co–N4 single‐atom catalyst rapidly activates peroxymonosulfate to remove the antibiotic sulfamethoxazole from water. Common ions have little impact, but chloride dramatically speeds degradation by promoting a high‐valent Co(IV) = O oxidant via in situ HOCl–catalyst electron transfer.

Sensory Ecology of the Net-Casting Spider, Deinopis spinosa
Sensory systems are both highly beneficial and highly costly. The balance between these benefits and costs is what shapes the sensory systems of animals.

The application of sensory ecology to reduce fisheries bycatch
The way in which animals use their sensory systems to perceive their environment can be described under the discipline of sensory ecology. A growing area from this discipline is its application to tackle wildlife conservation issues.

This work constructed a tandem W−N−C center to simultaneously achieve the regulation of reaction pathways and optimization of charge separation efficiency. The Lewis‐acidic W6+ sites activated O2 to generate O2−$O_2^ - $, with enhanced charge separation via electronic modulation, steering U(VI) reduction down an efficient radical pathway.
