Effect of sensory stimulation on the potency of cataleptogens
Psychopharmacologia, 1975Pressures of up to 100 mm Hg applied to the mouse tail caused marked enhancement of the cataleptogenic potency of morphine, haloperidol and arecoline. Visual and auditory stimuli of moderate intensity also enhanced morphine catalepsy. Thus potentiation of cataleptogens by alteration of sensory input appears to be a fairly general phenomenon.

Sensory Stimulation for Inhibition of Epileptic Seizures
Epilepsia, 1989Summary: Simple acoustic stimuli were delivered at the onset of absence seizures in 23 investigations of 19 patients. In 79 of 139 observations, the stimulation promptly inhibited the seizure. The most effective inhibition was achieved in the first 3 s of the absence seizure.

Science, 1966Stimulation of the cat's hypothalamus, which elicits attack, also establishes sensory fields for two reflexes related to biting. Touching a perioral region leads to head movement, bringing the stimulus to the mouth. Touching the lip-line leads to jaw opening. The size of the fields depends on the intensity of stimulation.
