Statistics of quasi-energy separations in chaotic systems

Physical Review B, 1985
summary, this work confirms that the quasi-energy nearest-neighbor spacings distribution of the kicked rotor is Poissonian and therefore is similar to the corresponding dis-tribution for energy levels spacing in the one-dimensional localization problem. This is further evidence for the simi-larity between these two problems.

Blind source separation using order statistics

Signal Processing, 2005
This paper shows the possibility to blindly separate instantaneous mixtures of sources by means of a criterion exploiting order statistics. Properties of higher order statistics and second-order methods are first underlined. Then a brief description of the order statistics shows that they gather all these properties and a new criterion is proposed ...

A Statistical Analysis of Attack Data to Separate Attacks

International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN'06), 2006
This paper analyzes malicious activity collected from a test-bed, consisting of two target computers dedicated solely to the purpose of being attacked, over a 109 day time period. We separated port scans, ICMP scans, and vulnerability scans from the malicious activity.

Statistical separability of local motions in volumetric images

2013 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2013
Measurement of local differences in the 3D motions of dynamic body organs (captured by volumetric scanners) is of increasing interest in biomedicai imaging applications. Estimation methods of 3D optical flow in those images have been studied in recent years. However, theoretical limits of 3D optical flow-based motion estimation and segmentation are yet

Signal separation using second and high order statistics

Proceedings of the Sixteenth National Radio Science Conference. NRSC'99 (IEEE Cat. No.99EX249), 2000
Summary: This paper presents two methods for signal separation. In either method, the fundamental criterion for separation relies on reducing to zero, or at least minimizing, the output cross-correlation or cross-cumulant functions of a decoupling multi-input-multi-output system that is fed with mixed signals.

Statistical Control of Electrostatic Separation Processes

IEEE Industry Applications Magazine, 2010
The aim of this article is to point out the characteristics of Shewhart and CUSUM charts when applied to electrostatic separation processes and validate their ability to detect special events that may be indicators of out-of-control situations. This article also shows how the effectiveness of statistical process control (SPC) can be improved by using ...

Stability Verification of Statistical Methods for Signal Separation

2018 IEEE East-West Design & Test Symposium (EWDTS), 2018
This paper presents an algorithm for verifying the stability of statistical methods for signal separation. This algorithm is based on the calculation of singular parameter intervals for a signal mixing model. A feature of the algorithm is that it considers the effects of permutation and scaling that occur in statistical algorithms for signal separation.
