Separated laminar boundary layers [PDF]

open access: yes
Classical boundary layer theory is inadequate to deal with the problem of flow separation owing to its underlying assumption that the boundary layer has an insignificant effect on the external stream.

On Composing Separated Concerns, Composability and Composition Anomalies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
It is generally acknowledged that separation of concerns is a key requirement for effective software engineering: it helps in managing the complexity of software and supports the maintainability of a software system.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Separate States

open access: yesJournal of Visual Art Practice, 2023
This piece separates various parts of a series of readymade archival image descriptions and relocates them into new, categorised spaces. With separation and relocation, the narrative of events apparent in the descriptions and in the album of photographs they define is de-emphasised (although the narrative can, in part, be re-built, due to archival ...

Unconditional two-mode squeezing of separated atomic ensembles

open access: yes, 2005
We propose schemes for the unconditional preparation of a two-mode squeezed state of effective bosonic modes realized in a pair of atomic ensembles interacting collectively with optical cavity and laser fields.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Merger and reconnection of Weibel separated relativistic electron beam

open access: yes, 2017
The relativistic electron beam (REB) propagation in a plasma is fraught with beam plasma instabilities. The prominent amongst them being the collisionless Weibel destabilization which spatially separates the forward propagating REB and the return ...
