Pratique de l’extranéité dans l’écriture d’Abdelkébir Khatibi [PDF]

open access: yesÇédille: Revista de Estudios Franceses, 2013
Promoted to the rank of operational concept in writing, the notion of "foreign professional" means in both fictional and critical work of Abdelkébir Khatibi (1938-2009) this cosmopolitan otherness that reduces identity disparities and cultural ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

A nonintrusive method to approximate linear systems with nonlinear parameter dependence

open access: yes, 2013
We consider a family of linear systems $A_\mu \alpha=C$ with system matrix $A_\mu$ depending on a parameter $\mu$ and for simplicity parameter-independent right-hand side $C$.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Impact parameter representation for separable potentials

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1974
Abstract An exact impact parameter representation for nonlocal separable potential has been written down. This representation is valid at all angles and energies. Further, it is shown that the Blankenbecler-Goldberger representation follows naturally for such a potential and has also an N D form.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Separable equivalence, complexity and representation type

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2017
We generalise the notion of separable equivalence, originally presented by Linckelmann (2011), to an equivalence relation on additive categories. We use this generalisation to show that from an initial equivalence between two algebras we may build equivalences between many related categories.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
