On differential rational invariants of patches with respect to motion groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper can be considered as a research on Algebraic Differential Geometry. It is about differential rational invariants of subgroups of the Affine group over the constant fields of partial differential fields (characteristic zero).

Hydrostatic pressure activates HIF‐1α via β‐catenin to promote stemness in breast cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
To mimic the elevated intestinal fluid pressure in breast cancers, we loaded human breast cancer cells (MCF‐7, MDA‐MB‐453, and BT‐474) to 50 mmHg hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure exposure upregulated HIF‐1α and induced stemness in MCF‐7 and BT‐474 cells.

Porous invariants for linear systems [PDF]

open access: yes
We introduce the notion of porous invariants for multipath affine loops over the integers. These are invariants definable in (fragments of) Presburger arithmetic and, as such, lack certain tame geometrical properties, such a convexity and connectedness ...

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Separating Invariants

open access: yes, 2008
Roughly speaking, a separating algebra is a subalgebra of the ring of invariants whose elements distinguish between any two orbits that can be distinguished using invariants. In this thesis, we introduce the notion of a geometric separating algebra, a more geometric notion of a separating algebra.

Generic separation for modular invariants

open access: yes
For modular indecomposable representations of a cyclic group $G$ of prime order $p$ we propose a list of polynomial invariants of degree $\leq 3$ that, together with a simple invariant of degree $p$, separate generic orbits and generate the field of rational invariants. A similar result is proven for decomposable representations of $G$.
