Study on electrons conduction paths in Hall thruster ignition processes with the cathode located inside and outside the magnetic separatrix

Acta Astronautica, 2019
A high speed charged coupled device (CCD) camera was used to examine the plume features over time when the cathode was located inside and outside the magnetic separatrix. Due to the different positions of the cathode, there are obvious differences in the

Effect of relative position between cathode and magnetic separatrix on the discharge characteristic of Hall thrusters

Vacuum, 2018
In this paper, a new “convex” external magnetic pole structure is proposed. With this structure, two different configurations of the cathode inside and outside the magnetic separatrix can be realized by changing the position of the magnetic separatrix ...

The Saddle-Node Separatrix-Loop Bifurcation

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1987
In the paper vector fields \(x'=f(x)\), \(x\in {\mathbb{R}}^ 2\), having at some point an equilibrium of saddle-node type with a separatrix loop, are studied. Such vector fields fill a codimension two submanifold \(\Sigma\) of an appropriate Banach space. Author gives analytic conditions that determine whether a two-parameter perturbation of \(x'=f(x)\)

Adiabatic invariance and separatrix: Single separatrix crossing

Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics, 2000
Detailed numerical experiments on the dynamics and statistics of a single crossing of the separatrix of a nonlinear resonance with a time-varying amplitude are described. The results are compared with a simple approximate theory first developed by Timofeev and further improved and generalized by Tennyson and coworkers.

NUMERICAL OBSERVATIONS ON SEPARATRIX CROSSINGS

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2003
We investigate one degree of freedom Hamiltonian systems when trajectories cross a separatrix. We study such systems numerically using high precision computations and compare our results with first order, analytical predictions. In all our experiments we find oscillatory behavior which is not predicted by the first order analysis.
