A multidomain hydrolase from the thermophile Thermanaeromonas toyohensis degrades high molecular mass forms of polyhydroxybutyrate

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract The use of polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) bioplastics has the potential to create a circular and sustainable recycling plastic system. Here, we focus on PHB degradation and characterize the multidomain PHB hydrolyzing enzyme from the extremophile Thermanaeromonas tohohensis.

Chemical Constituents with Cytotoxic Activity from Dracocephalum imberbe

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 30, August 8, 2025.
The isolation, purification, structural determination, and cytotoxic activity studies were carried out on D. imberbe for the first time. The flavonoid glycosides 1–2 demonstrated notable cytotoxic activity selectively against MCF‐7 cells. The major compound 1 is particularly noteworthy for its potential efficacy in treating various cancers such as lung

A high‐resolution data set of fatty acid‐binding protein structures. I. Dynamics of FABP4 and ligand binding

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 81, Issue 8, Page 423-435, August 2025.
NMR studies on human FABP4 in solution and bound to micelles and bicelles delineate its dynamics in a ligand‐dependent fashion. Residual ligands are co‐purified with the protein, which may negatively influence binding studies with low‐affinity ligands.Fatty acid‐binding proteins (FABPs) are involved in the uptake and intracellular trafficking of fatty ...

Replacement of large subunit N terminus enabled biogenesis of different plant Rubiscos in E. coli

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 8, Page 3382-3391, August 2025.
Summary The efforts of engineering plant ribulose‐1,5‐bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco) with the goal of improving plant photosynthetic efficiency and crop yield have existed for long. However, the directed evolution of plant Rubisco has not been widely explored because its biogenesis in a heterologous host such as Escherichia coli remains ...

Tailored Watson–Crick Pairing Partners for Xanthosine in RNA

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 42, July 25, 2025.
RNAs with kappa‐xanthosine (K–X) or 2‐iminocytidine‐xanthosine (2imC–X) base pairs form stable double helices that have higher melting temperatures than those of the A–U or G–U references. Access to these novel 2imC‐modified RNAs is possible through the mild, selective chemical conversion of 2‐thiocytidine RNA precursors.

High performance thin-layer chromatography and densitometry of synaptic plasma membrane lipids.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1989
Previously, it has been shown that phospholipids, cholesterol, and glycolipids could be quantitated using the same high performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) method.
