Preparative Isolation of Two Prenylated Biflavonoids from the Roots and Rhizomes of Sinopodophyllum emodi by Sephadex LH-20 Column and High-Speed Counter-Current Chromatography [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2015
Two prenylated biflavonoids, podoverines B–C, were isolated from the dried roots and rhizomes of Sinopodophyllum emodi using a Sephadex LH-20 column (SLHC) and high-speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC).

Chemical Constituents of the Deep-Sea-Derived Fungus Talaromyces wortmannii and Their Ferroptosis Inhibitory Activity. [PDF]

open access: yesChem Biodivers
One new tyramine derivative (1) and 28 known compounds (2–29) were isolated from deep‐sea‐derived fungus Talaromyces wortmannii. Their structures were elucidated by NMR/MS and computational calculations. Compounds 2 and 6 potently inhibited ferroptosis with EC5₀ values of 4.52 and 13.73 µM.

Constituents From the Flowers of Viburnum macrocephalum f. macrocephalum and Their α-Amylase and α-Glucosidase Inhibitory Activities. [PDF]

open access: yesChem Biodivers
Two new cadinane‑type sesquiterpenes, viburetones A and B, were isolated from Viburnum macrocephalum flowers, marking the first cadinane skeletons in this genus. Viburetone A showed dual α‑amylase and α‑glucosidase inhibition comparable to acarbose, and docking clarified its binding.

Flavasperfurans A and B, Two New Asperfuran Derivatives From the Marine-Derived Fungus Aspergillus flavus. [PDF]

open access: yesChem Biodivers
Two new asperfurans (1 and 2) and 23 known compounds from marine Aspergillus flavus were characterized by NMR, HRESIMS, DP4+, and ECD. Asperfuran (3) potently inhibited RSL3‐induced ferroptosis (EC50 = 0.81 µM). ABSTRACT Marine microorganisms represent a prolific reservoir of chemically diverse natural products endowed with considerable therapeutic ...

Extraction and Isolation of Bioactive Compounds From Malpighia glabra L. Leaves: In Vivo Investigation of the Leaf Extract Against Oxidative Stress and Inflammation Triggered by γ-Radiation. [PDF]

open access: yesChem Biodivers
Malpighia glabra L. leaves extract, enriched with flavonoids and β‐isoarborinol, exhibits antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory activities that moderate γ‐radiation‐induced systemic and tissue harm. The extract preserves intestinal, hepatic, renal, splenic, and systemic integrity by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, supporting its potential as a ...

Two New Polyketides From Streptomyces sp. SA61: Isolation, Structure Elucidation, and Insecticidal Activity Against Bemisia tabaci. [PDF]

open access: yesChem Biodivers
Isolation of six polyketides (including two new compounds, strekingmycins I and J) from earthworm gut‐derived Streptomyces sp. SA61 and their insecticidal activity against third‐instar nymphs of Bemisia tabaci. Strekingmycin A (1) exhibited the most potent activity (LC50 = 5.58 µg/mL), comparable to the commercial insecticide spirotetramat. ABSTRACT To

Exploring separation patterns and mechanisms of proanthocyanidins in grape seeds and pomace with diverse molecular weights, compositions, and structures

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X, 2023
The function of proanthocyanidins (PAs) relies on their structure and requires high-purity PAs. Though Sephadex LH-20 gel permeation chromatography (GPC) is expected to separate PAs based on structure, its usage rules and mechanisms remain unclear.

Response surface methodology-optimized extraction of flavonoids from pomelo peels and isolation of naringin with antioxidant activities by Sephadex LH20 gel chromatography

open access: yesCurrent Research in Food Science, 2023
In this study, flavonoids were extracted from pomelo peels and naringin was isolated from the flavonoid extract. The effects of extraction parameters, namely, ethanol concentration, solid-to-liquid ratio, and extraction time, on the yield of flavonoids ...

The effect of wine age and tannin composition on tannin activity across consecutive Pinotage red wine vintages

open access: yesOENO One, 2022
The effect of wine age on tannin chemistry and tannin activity values was investigated in red wine extracts according to a chemosensory approach. Sixteen Pinotage red wines of multiple vintages (2003-2018) were each isolated into four distinct polymeric ...
